Do You Want to Own Your Own Business - Learn How To Start a New or Buy an Existing Business

By Michael Busch

All across the USA individuals associated with our largest corporations are finding that the security that they expected no longer exists. Further, in many cases long assumed pension and retirement benefits are falling by the wayside. And although the economy is flourishing by every known measurement, these individuals stand to lose their jobs and savings. Mergers among our largest corporations coupled with increased productivity due to technological advances may bode well for shareholders, but not for those who lose their jobs.

These individuals find themselves in the most frightening position of all; likely out of a job, between the ages of 40 and 60, with few prospects of achieving like compensation levels elsewhere. In the new global economy, domestic and international mergers and acquisitions rule the day and out- sourcing is a fact of life. Therefore, new jobs primarily will be created by entrepreneurial companies, e.g. small business.

This author believes that many of these displaced workers will seek to control their own destiny by starting a new business, buying an existing business or purchasing a franchise. And while there is no doubt that the vast majority of these individuals are well educated and experienced in their previous vocation, few are adequately prepared to succeed at owning and operating their own business. Some statistics state that nine out every ten new businesses fail.

However, this does not have to be. We can mitigate the risks and beat the statistics. As one who has made his life's work the starting of new businesses, purchase of existing businesses and having founded a very successful franchise company, I can assure you that with the proper direction and mentoring, you can beat the odds and take charge of your business life.

There is nothing so exhilarating that to know that you control your own destiny.
