The Colloidal Silver Controversy

Colloidal Silver might just be a wonderful thing and here'swhy: Prokaryotic, a.k.a bacterial cells and viruses cannotlive in it's presence. That means that whether you have acold caused by a virus or a bacterial infection, colloidalsilver could be used to fight the infection.

Think about it, if anything is caused by bacteria orviruses, it could certainly be influenced by the use ofcolloidal silver. It can also act as a topical treatment toprevent cuts or burns from becoming infected.

Colloidal silver will deactivate a prokaryotic pathogen's ability to use oxygen, thereby suffocating the pathogen to death. Germs are not able to mutate to beat silver - at least not so far. So the super strains of bacteria that have shown up in recent times are not able to defeat silver.

Colloidal Silver is somewhat controversial. It seems to begenerally agreed that Colloidal Silver is an effectivetopical antibacterial agent. Long term internal use may haveside affects, such as turning the skin blue. There is alsothe question of heavy metal toxicity.

You might find it interesting to recognize that there isn'tmuch argument about short term use. It seems to me that youcould use it like an antibiotic for two weeks at a time whennecessary. Of course, I'm not a doctor and you shouldn'tattempt to self treat. If you have a health condition, gosee your doctor.

So, how come doctors don't use colloidal silver in theirpractices? Interesting question, that one.

All I can do is point out that colloidal silver is availablewithout a prescription at your local health food store.

The author of "The Body Electric" did some research onsilver and he found it to be a great treatment for burns, that it did not upset the intestinal environment the waythat convention antibiotics do and he saw it as aneliminator of pathogens.

Pathogens are those pesky bacteria and viruses that seem tocause so much trouble. Silver is used in the treatment ofburns today.

This may be important: There are some out there that claimthe colloidal silver available on the market today is not ina high enough concentrations to be effective. Somerecommend 500 PPM solutions.

PPM stands for Parts Per Million. You can find 500 PPMsolutions in health stores occasionally. There is notenough research out there to say for sure that you need 500PPM. But it doesn't seem that unreasonable either.

Many brands that you find in store are only 50 or even 5PPM.

Colloidal silver is available without a prescription, whichcould be telling about why there isn't more researchavailable. It's just not profitable for the people who dothe most medical research to investigate it.

The money for them is in researching and creating new drugs. In other words, there is no way to corner the market oncolloidal silver.

You would be right to lament the fact that not enoughresearch has been done, to tell us more about thisincredible option.

And it's not that research has never been done. There is alarge body of research that supports the use of it, however,it has never become mainstream knowledge

Again, some doctors and scientists are concerned abouttoxicity levels with colloidal silver. If you have anyquestions about it, it might be a good idea to consult withyour physician. See what she says about it.
